Welcome to the website about Healthy Eating, it is important that we look after our bodies by feeding them the right sorts of foods so that our body and brains will have fuel and energy throughout the day to perform well. A big portion of food which you eat in the day is out of your lunchbox at school. It is important to make sure that the food you eat out of your lunchbox at school is the right kind of food so that your brain will have the energy to do effective learning and so that your whole body will be able to function properly. Food such as fruit, vegetables, nuts, wraps or sandwiches with meat or salad, yoghurt, cheese and foods low in sugar and fats such as rice cakes are good foods suitable to include in your lunch box. Food which are high in sugar and fats such as chips, lollies, chocolate, pizza and cordial are not so suitable to include in your lunchbox because these foods do not provide the brain with good energy to learn. It is not good for your body to eat or drink food with lots of sugar in it because this can lead to health problems later on in life. The most important thing is that we eat a diet containing the right balance of foods. We can use the healthy plate to help us to know how much of which kinds of food we should be eating.
This website is designed to provide you with information and ideas about packing a healthy lunchbox for school. Once you have finished exploring the website you will need to complete the worksheet about healthy lunchboxes which will be provided by the teacher towards the end of the lesson.
